Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy is typically offered to those aged 16 and over. At West End Therapy, we aim to create a safe space that is inclusive and supportive of individuals of diverse backgrounds, identities and ways of thinking.

Our therapists are experienced in supporting individuals facing a wide range of issues, including:

  • managing stress and difficult emotions

  • experiencing ambivalence, strain or loss in intimate relationships

  • grief and loss

  • the effects of trauma, complex trauma, or intergenerational trauma

  • navigating setting and maintaining boundaries in relationships

  • living with neuro-divergence

  • mental health issues (mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorder)

  • substance use and behavioural addictions

  • life transitions and adjusting to different phases of the life cycle

  • struggles with identity and/or sense of self

  • issues related to attachment style, including sensitivity to rejection, avoidance of emotional intimacy, and abandonment fear

  • social isolation and/or loss of community

We will work with you to identify your goals for therapy and collaboratively create a plan for therapeutic work. Growth and healing may include developing more effective ways of coping, working through recent or past emotional wounds, learning how to create healthier relationships, and building a life that feels authentic and aligned. Therapy is a process and each person's therapy journey will be unique.

Our therapists use various therapeutic modalities, which may include: 

  • Systemic approaches

  • Attachment theory

  • Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) / working with parts of the self

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Mindfulness & Compassion-Based approaches

  • Anti-Oppressive approaches

What to Expect: Our aim is to help link you with a therapist who you feel is a good fit. Please let us know if you are interested in meeting with a particular therapist. Alternatively, we can help match you with a therapist and will ask about your needs related to scheduling, insurance coverage, preferred gender of the therapist, and presenting issue. 

Session Length & Cost: Individual sessions typically range from 50 to 60 minutes. The cost for an individual therapy session is $120 for 50 minutes, plus $15 for each additional 10 minutes.
