In my practice, I work within a family systems lens - helping the individual understand that systems are interconnected; each member of the family affects and is affected by those around them. Families are complex and intricate, each needing to be supported uniquely; there is no "one size fits all" in therapy. By working within this lens, we are able to work together openly, ensuring each individual involved feels supported and understood.
I strive to create a safe, open, and trusting space, where we can work together to honour and appreciate each person's individualities.
I hold both a Bachelor of Social Work and Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Manitoba. I am a registered member of the Manitoba College of Social Workers. I have 5 years of experience in youth mental health and crisis work, as well as grief, bereavement and loss. My final graduate practicum was spent specializing in family therapy for a non-profit organization here in Winnipeg. I have recently embarked on a journey to become a Certified Play Therapist through the Canadian Association of Play Therapy. I am excited to use my newfound skills and education in a variety of settings to support children, teens and their families.
I was born and raised in Winnipeg, growing up in the North Kildonan area of the city. I wear many hats, being that of a sister, daughter, friend and wife. My most cherished role includes being a mother to my 2 girls, who are my pride and joy. I have 2 dogs who are fluffy, loud and as sweet as can be. When I am not working, you can often find me at home spending intentional time with my kiddos, reading on my Kindle, listening to audio books or, not so secretly, watching WWE on Monday's and Friday's - it is my husband and I's favourite pass time!
