In my practice, I adopt a flexible therapeutic approach tailored to the individual strengths and preferences of each client. I believe that the connection between therapist and client is paramount, and that you are the expert on your life. I am to work collaboratively with clients, supporting them in achieving their personal goals.
I am passionate about fostering a trusting, open, and authentic space where the complex and diverse lived experiences, stories, and emotions that clients bring are welcomed and honoured. Every part of you is welcome here.
I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Winnipeg and am a member of the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy. I have five years of experience as a mental health counselor at various community health clinics and agencies. Before embarking on my training and work as a therapist, I conducted research on the effects of compassionate love on close relationships for the University of Winnipeg’s Psychology Department.
I was born and raised in Winnipeg’s North End and spent a significant portion of my adolescence with family in Northern Manitoba. Being of mixed heritage, with a Red River Michif mother and a Norwegian-Canadian father, provided me with opportunities to navigate multiple cultural perspectives throughout my upbringing.Apart from my role as a therapist, I cherish my roles as a partner, daughter, sister, auntie, friend, and community member. I love spending time in nature with my dog, expressing my creativity through textile arts like traditional Michif beadwork and knitting gifts for loved ones, and challenging myself with physical activities such as skateboarding.
If you’d like, I am happy to chat with you more about your curiosities in beginning therapy over a no-cost consultation where I’ll ask you questions about your hopes, what’s bringing you to therapy now, and set aside time for you to ask me questions about therapy or how I work.
Seeking support, however big or small, can be the most challenging step, I’m so glad you made it here.
