Strengths-Based & Person-Centered
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. I am a first-generation immigrant from the Philippines and am thankful to call Canada my home since my childhood. I speak both English and Tagalog.
I believe all of us have the internal strengths and capabilities to help us navigate life's challenges. I work from a strengths-based, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach, supporting youth and young adults (ages 16–29) who may be navigating stress and anxiety, identity and career exploration, academic and employment challenges, or major life transitions. I have worked with immigrant and refugee youth for 7 years to support them in their settlement journey upon arrival in Winnipeg and navigating education and employment transitions. As a trained Circle of Security facilitator, I integrate an attachment lens into my therapeutic work when understanding clients' emotional needs and how they function in relationships, supporting them to build and maintain secure relationships. My current work as a private practice Therapist and also as a School Social Worker allows me to support individuals in different capacities who are facing a broad range of challenges.
Therapy was instrumental when I transitioned into adulthood. I discovered I had been living with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder. I know how overwhelming and tough it is when it feels like your head and your heart are running never-ending laps, and how lonely it can feel when dealing with them. As a therapist, I am here to help you learn and practice skills to manage your thoughts and emotions and how to use these skills in difficult situations. I am here to collaborate with you and provide the space to witness your experience, problem solve, and support you in breaking down your goals into achievable steps. As a clinician, I aim to provide a supportive and safe space for you to grow and develop new ways of being. You don't have to do it alone.
In my spare time, I love to crochet. I also have two dogs (a pomeranian and a shih tzu) who keep me on my toes and love to talk about them!
